Blast from the Past: SpiderBraids' European Vacation, revisited (Day 7)

Breakfast at the hotel. Your typical continental fare of eggs, sausage, bacon and bread.

P1000486-resize
Bus tour of Porto.

P1000487-resize
Something I hadn't seen in 18 years... the Atlantic Ocean.

P1000497-resize
A Vodaphone-sponsored statue of an electric guitar. Not visible in photo: Sign saying "Porto calls for you".

P1000502-resize
The Atlantic Ocean.

P1000503-resize
There's plenty of old architecture in Porto, such as this old castle.

P1000505-resize
At first glance, you'd think this road was Beverly Hills :-D This is actually a stretch of Avenida Dom Carlos I, at the mouth of the Tagus River.

P1000512-resize
The Tagus river, and the part of town across from it. Mostly orange roofs.

P1000514-resize
Arrabida bridge, one of the more modern bridges in Porto.

P1000516-resize
Our bus passing over an aqueduct along the river coast.

P1000525-resize
A mural...

P1000526-resize
...just before going under the oldest bridge in Porto, Dom Luis bridge.

P1000531-resize
Orange roofs from the other side of the river.

After walking to a port brewery expecting to find something to eat, we ended up settling for Pizza Hut, but as with the McDonald's before, we decided to try some non-typical fare, starting with this Brazilian soda made with guarana which IMO takes a lot like apple.

P1000536-resize
Appetizers: Breaded mushrooms, potato smilies, and cheese-garlic bread.

P1000537-resize
Another shot of the Dom Luis...

P1000538-resize
And finally our pizza, looking much more like a traditional pizza than the kind we normally get back home.

P1000544-resize
A view of the roads in Porto, replete with cobblestone.

P1000546-resize
Some statue.

P1000547-resize
Since this was the day before the start of the World Cup soccer, some stalls and a big screen were set up in front of the town hall. We'll see it again later.

P1000551-resize
Yet another shot of the Dom Luis, from a road high up above.

P1000552-resize
Portugal is quite the religious country, so there are plenty of churches here.
(2020 extra thoughts: This is the Church of Saint Ildefonso)

P1000555-resize
Santa Catarina shopping street. We'll see it again later.

P1000569-resize
Back at the hotel, briefly vegging in front of the TV with twin princesses Fine (red hat)...

P1000570-resize
...and Rein (blue hat). The show in question wasn't exactly a big hit. AFAIK, it's only been sold to Hong Kong, China, Italy... and Thailand and Portugal. Looks cute though :-)
(2020 extra thoughts: Not making this up: One of the very first photos I took with the same camera was of the TV at my house, showing a scene from this anime... not only that, but also from the exact same episode :-) It's particularly telling that the Fandom Wiki entry doesn't even have a more detailed recap, but enough about that digression)

P1000571-resize
Another church, the São Miguel de Nevogilde. This one we'll see again later.

P1000580-resize
Dinner at the Oporto Resturant-Bar. This here is "Golden Cod": Shredded cod mixed with shredded potato and egg.

P1000581-resize
Dessert: crepe with chocolate. Mmm...
